Apple iPhone 5 Credible Challenger: The HTC Vigor on Verizon
The iPhone 5 continues to be the subject of debate and speculation as is always the case with Apple products. As its release is rumored for September or October it’s often been said that its main rivals will be theSamsung Galaxy S II or Motorola Droid Bionic. However the later the release of the iPhone, the closer it will be to the release of a handset that up until now hasn’t received a lot of attention as an iPhone challenger, the HTC Vigor.
We’ve written countless articles now about the iPhone 5 and recently noted the possibility of a low-cost or free iCloud iPhone that may be released at the same time as the iPhone 5. Apple is notoriously secretive about future products and we’ve reported often on the rumored specs for the next iPhone, which include a better processor, improved 8-megapixel (at least) camera, and a larger screen.
Some are also expecting more RAM, enhanced voice controls and 4G LTE support. However we told recently how 4G LTE support for the next iPhone seems unlikelygiven the compromises Apple might have to make on its styling for the iPhone 5. As far as carriers are concerned we recently told of the benefits to consumers of the iPhone 5 being simultaneously released by more than one carrier this time around, Verizon of course, being one of them.
However Verizon is also where the HTC Vigor is headed according to a leaked Verizon roadmap and we recently gave details on more leaked specs of the Vigor, which is rumored to have a notable HD screen. From what we’ve heard so far this is looking highly impressive with a 4.3-inch display and huge 1.5GHz dual-core processor, similar to the bumped up Galaxy S II, the Celox.
Other rumored specs and features for the Vigor include 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with 2-megapixel front-facer and Beats by Dretechnology. It’s thought it will run on Android 2.3.4 with the next HTC Sense interface, 3.5. Pretty notable stuff! Plus it’s likely to be a 4G LTE handset, which as we said before, is looking less and less likely for the iPhone 5.
We’re interested to know if you’re a die-hard iPhone fan waiting for the iPhone 5 and if you could be tempted away by an Android phone that has the prospective impressive specs and features of the HTC Vigor? Let us know by sending your comments.
